How Early to Book for High Season

Even though we have just come back, we are on to planning our next trip. We were going to Vietnam, but the teenagers want to go back to Phuket, so it looks like Vietnam and Phuket as well.

Unfortunately due to school, work and uni commitments (and money!!!), we won%26#39;t be able to go until January 2011. How early does accommodation for January book out? I would rather not commit to specific dates until the middle of next year, and just save our money, but don%26#39;t want to miss out. I would be looking at places such as Marina Resort, Kata Beach Resort or Kata Palm.

I will say BOOK NOW !!!

With the AUD so strong now, hotels will go out very fast.

I have read that in December hotels are already fully booked (the bigger ones)

That%26#39;s pretty much what I thought, I was just hoping it wasn%26#39;t a situation where the better hotels book out a year in advance!

Not a year in advance but in a normal (non recession) situation December and January start getting difficult about 6 months before hand.

rule of thumb is flights are generally released 10mths ahead... so not many people will book their accomodation till their flight dates are confirmed...

being jan and peak season i would book as early as possible if you are wanting one specific place.. and one specific room type.. but if you are flexible then you have a little more time up your sleeve..
