I will come to BKK from 4th Dec as want to see King Birthday event . Wondering first time to Thailand spend fully 4 days in BKK is good ?

Refered some posted here as Koh Samet is nearest island worth to go . So 2 days in BKK, 2 days in Koh Samet sounds good ?
