Booking trips/tours from Cape Panwa

Can anyone tell me where the best place to book trips is around Cape Panwa.

Also what is the average price we should look at paying for trips such as Phi Phi/Phang Nga, we have been quoted 3000Bht booking from UK in advance.

Thanks

I would be interested in this too as we are booking a trip staying at Kantary Bay Resort and wondered what there is to do in this area.

Are there any shopping experiences to be had in Panwa Bay? Are there any markets/bars/restaurants/spas? Thanks in advance.

When i last stayed there, November 2007, The hotel had a desk for booking trips.

However, i found it cheaper to book from a small booth down in the village, right next door to the Sawasdee restaurant. I believe it was called Frankies.

We booked the John Gray Hongs by starlight, and a speedboat trip to PhiPhi with them, and found ourselves on the same boat as people who had payed more than us for the same trip.

For smaller trips, there is the Sunset bar just round the corner. Russell can sort you out for some things, like longtail boat trips, and he has a driver available, if things havent changed.

I rather hope nothings changed, as i will be staying at the Kantary Bay in Feb 2010.

Best of luck and stay happy,

John

As far as shopping experiences go, there is a small ';Spar'; type minimarket, a couple of small shops and a small night market in the Cape Panwa village.

The hotels both have some nice bars, though more expensive than down in the village. And village it is.

There are three or four places to eat outside of the hotels, and they all do a pretty good meal for a good price.

Stay happy,

John

Thanks so much John. We are still trying to decide between staying at Kantary or paying extra and staying closer to Patong (looking at Katathani - don%26#39;t know if you have heard of it?) It is supposed to be away from the main hustle but a 15 minute walk. We don%26#39;t want to stay in the midst of things but we do want to be able to walk and browse. Maybe the few small shops at Panwa will suffice. Especially if we are booking day trips anyway and we will have to go to Patong for one or two days as my sister-in-law want to get a suit made? I have read that Patong is about 40mins away? We are also looking in February also.

Sorry if I am rambling - thinking out loud really. But the cost will increase considerably if we stay at Katathani and not sure if its worth it? We have our 11 year old daughter with us too. Any advise appreciated. We just want to make sure we don%26#39;t feel like we are really far removed from everything and that there is plenty to keep us interested for a few days hanging out at Panwa. Does this make sense? Having a blonde moment (apologies to all the lovely blondes out there....). Better go before this turns into a novel. Thanks and regards.

Hi, Cosmiclolly,

I have stayed at both Cape Panwa and the Katathani. The Katathani is a large hotel sat on a very nice beach kata noi with a 6 minute walk into Kata Noi village with a few shops and tailors outside the hotel . I enjoyed my stay here but i did not like the fact that there are countless massage ladies and men in the hotel grounds giving massages everywhere even in the walkways. This hotel is also not as posh as it looks. It does do a fantastic breakfast buffet.

Cape Panwa i loved it here so much i am coming back in March. My last visit i styayed 9 nights and did not find the location a problem. The tailor next door to the Sunset bar can be recomended. Also the Sunset Bar is one of the friendliest places and a great meeting place for after dinner or pre dinner drinks. As already stated if you require a taxi Russell can arrange also a boat trip to Coral Island Banana Beach.
