Pretty much, yes!

But it has a higher class feel to it. First, as opposed to Ryainair, you don%26#39;t fly from nowhere to nowhere, but use major airports. It also lacks the, to my mind, over-the-top onboard advertisement like Ryanair.

But it is a no-frills airline, with extra pay for luggage, drinks and food, as well as for the privilege to board first. At the end, if you book early enough, this airline is a bargain.

Higher class than Ryanair...not on the flights I%26#39;ve taken. They are also a bit unreliable punctuality wise, but otherwise OK. I%26#39;ve had cheaper flights with other carriers so its worth shopping around.

They are a low cost carrier but much classier.

Subscribe to the AirAsia Email newsletter to be notified of them when you can get very cheap flights depending on your dates.

There is one on at the moment ending 25th October for flights 11th Jan to 30th April 2010 with some destinations from 9th November 2009 to 10th Jan 2010.

The Express Boarding became obsolete when Air Asia introduced assigned seating on all flights last February. Now there%26#39;s still the option to pay a fee to book a particular seat, and a higher fee to book a ';Hot Seat.';

We used then twice in august and they were fine, they left ahead on time of thai air. costly fines for smaller airlines that miss their slots o IMO they more cutomer orientated..

I would also use jet star , in fact the only time i used thai they cancelled the flight .
