Temples and historic places to see?

Hi my friend and I will be leaving for Phuket in two months time and besides going to the beaches and tanning we would love to see Thailand’s Temples and historic places too. We staying in Karon, so if anyone knows of places to see in that area and the surrounding towns I would really appreciate that???

Temples and historic places to see?

I would definitely head to the Big Buddha, as well as Wat Chalong Temple. The two are close to each other and can be done on the same day. Promthep Cape is also another point of interest, with its beautiful lighthouse.
