Friendly Advise on Surin Beach (Surin Sabai Condominium)

Hi guys,

i%26#39;ve booked myself into Surin Sabai Condominium in Dec this year, then i found out there%26#39;s only 1 review(unfortunately not in a launguage i undestand.

1) Any one knows about this place?

2) Any facilities nearby?

3) Surin beach??? It%26#39;s a pretty remote beach with (any activities)?

4) lastly, anyone know a honest local driver%26#39;s number to take me from airport to this hotel? I%26#39;ve got 6 paxs travelling with me in total and it%26#39;s our first visit to Phuket, would really like to make this a happy and good one.

Hey, in for a penny, in for a pound:

Daj, as mentioned, is a reliable driver. He may have changed his prices but May this year he charged 800 baht each way, (1500 return) for the van that will fit 6. The accommodation you booked is only listed as 2 star, so don%26#39;t expect too much. Other web sites have reviews, and they were positive. It%26#39;s a small pool, and wont be fancy, but I%26#39;m sure it will be fine.

And see this link for info on Surin.

Sounds like a great place, but you may have to go into Patong for proper nightlife and shopping, or pop in to nearby Bang Tao or Kamala if there is not enough for you in Surin. Check out the night markets there and report back !

Translation of review in TA:

We stayed 3 nights in the residence. Room prices are high, but housing quality is worth it (very comfortable bed, clean, large closet, small balcony, excellent sound insulation between rooms. The apartment is equipped with TV, and we even had our cooked PDJ (?) by purchasing products at the 7 / 11 located at the exit of the hotel. The residence is located at + / - 300m from the beach. It is not very pleasant on the sea road leading to the beach, but the journey is fast. We rented a scooter 250 Baht to tour the region. The area is very touristy, and this is reflected in the prices charged by hotels / restaurants / scooter hire.

WOW!! You had it all translated OUT!!! I%26#39;m touched by your very kind gesture, am sure not many would have done that. thanks for the price. Yes, i%26#39;ve e-mailed him. Hopefull he will be able to come pick me and organize a one day itinerary for us.

*crossing fingers*

once again. thanks for being so helpful.

We stayed at Twinpalms at Surin 3 weeks ago and really liked the location. Only 400 baht for a driver/taxi to take you into Patong. We only went once.

For things to do at Surin, there%26#39;s lots of beachside eating places with the Catch Club the best looking and probably the most expensive, but still reasonable of course. Their Friday BBQ is pretty popular and the setting looks fab, really close to the beach with cover. Lots of eating places to choose from with a few bars one street back from the beach. However, by Dec things will be bopping a lot more so should be really good.

During the day you can get great massages for 400 baht on the beach too which is really nice looking up at the sky and palm trees. Hint, take a sarong or better still a small hand towel as theirs are rather scratchy!

We really liked the laid back atmosphere and hope you do too.

I contacted DAJ!! Yeah, read on forums that he%26#39;s recommended too, he attached a photo of himself. I%26#39;m juz glad i got him.

He%26#39;s charging 800 baht for one way %26amp; 1800 for day tour/sightseeing.

I thought rides are suppose to be cheaper for returning from hotel - airport?

Have not asked him about returned quotation yet.

Since he%26#39;s highly recommended and spoke off, i would suppose he wont be bringing us into jewellery shops/tailor shops...unless we request...

:)

thanks! any massage place in particular on the beach? Can%26#39;t thank you more for the hint. Just what i need.

Cant imagine leaving Phuket without some massages.

The massage places are ladies waiting near the beach with a table-like bed, oils and a sign nearby. Not very upmarket but nice amongst the trees, sky etc. Walking north after the temple, we used the first ladies on your left before the Catch club. We tipped too (50 to 100 baht) from memory. They seemed happy about that.
