Khao San Area to Train Station, and other Train questions

I%26#39;m planning to stay at Navalai River Resort and will be taking the train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. What is the easiest way to get to the train station? Taxi?

Also, if I have advanced purchase tickets, how early do I need to show up at the station? An hour in advance? Planning to take Train 1 which departs I think at 6pm. What would be a good time to head back to the hotel to pick up luggage and head to the airport? That is...how bad will traffic be around that time? Bad?

Are there lots of food places nearby so that we can get dinner/snacks before boarding?

Khao San Area to Train Station, and other Train questions

Hi fernoppi,

If you%26#39;re got advanced seat bookings for the train, then it%26#39;s probably a good idea to reconfirm your tickets because someone else of this forum recently posted that they had confirmed tickets (with an email from the Railway) only to find out that it had been canceled without their knowledge.

Anyways, Hualamphong is a really busy area and especially during that rush hour period. There is a subway stop near Hualamphong but I don%26#39;t know where you hotel is so have no idea as to whether you have that option.

Otherwise since you mention KSR, then yes, take a taxi since it%26#39;s not that far away from Hualamphong Station.

No problems with food since there are a number of places inside and near the station for food. And load up with snacks and beverages for your train ride.
