Khao Sak Transportation!

Thinking of booking with Lime Stone Lake Tours.

Will be staying in Khao Lak (Nang Thong beach area) before heading there....

I was provided some transportation options but would love to hear people%26#39;s experiences!

I need to figure out the following ---

Khao Lak --%26gt; Khao Sok

Chieow Laan Lake --%26gt; Surat Thani Airport

I think we might do the transfer to airport through them since I would hate to miss my flight and I would get all nervous, etc. (Unless it%26#39;s super easy to do!) The transfer was quoted as 1700 baht...eek! Otherwise with public transportation, sounds like a lot of work. Vehicle to Baak Takun --%26gt; Bus to Sarat Thani --%26gt; Taxi to Airport.

We let limestonelake tours book our transportation. We used them to go to and from Krabi and it was about the same price you quoted. The trip was about 2 to 2 1/2 hrs drive so honestly, for approx $50 one way for both of us, we thought it was actually pretty cheap, lol. I guess I compare to home where a 10 min cab ride costs $20, so $50 for 2+ hrs in an A/C van seemed darn good. Not to mention it did seem like the easiest and less stressful way of doing things. At one point in time this summer I did look into other transporation companies to go to and from Khao Sok ( phuket to KS and KS to Krabi), however they all seemed close in price to what Limestonelake tours already quoted. Thus, the public transportation way seemed the only cheaper way to do it, but at the expense of ease.

Good luck with whatever you decide! :) You will love Khao Sok btw.. absolute highlight of our trip was our day at Chiaw Laan Lake! Have your camera ready at dawn!

Actually the price I was quoted from Krabi to Khoa Sok was 2700 B ( $81) and from Chieow laan Lake to Suret Thani was 1700B.($51) from LLT. That was a toatal of 4400B for transport for both legs.

I thought it was steep but tried to find other transport and couldn%26#39;t come up with anything, so good luck. Khoa Lak not as far as Krabi.

If your dates are the same we could share the Chieow- Suret Thani transport??? Boy, that would be coincidence.

Thanks for the responses. So it sounds like the prices aren%26#39;t too bad. I guess I tend to think that everything should be cheap cheap cheap in Thailand...but with my planning, things are cheapER but not SUPER DUPER cheap.

Venus -- ahha! yeah I was thinking it would be a good idea to try to find people to share the cost of transportation. if we book through LLT i doubt they would go out of their way to suggest that if there were multiple parties...who knows...maybe? anyway we will be there in March.

If you post the details of where and when you are staying in Khao Lak I will add you to the Calendar of other TA members who have volunteered the information and then send you a link to it. In this way you will see if there are other TA members there at the same time and you could PM them to see if they are interested in sharing with you - as well as joining in any get togethers that may be arranged during your stay.
