2D 1N in Hua Hin

Hi,

I am planning a trip next month; 5D 4N in BKK. I would like to make use of my time to visit Hua Hin. Coming along is my spouse and 3 kids, 3, 4 and 8.

1. I read somewhere that a Mr Roong do provide transport service between Hua Hin and BKK. May I know does he follow us around or it is purely between BKK and Hua Hin. Any other recommended mode of transport/transport provider for us to refer?

2. Are there anything suitable for the kids to see/play in Hua Hin?

3. I am on a budget. What accommodation can you recommend for us for 1 night; say about 2200THB?

4. Any suggested itinerary for me? My spouse have weak legs so we avoid doing anything too strenuous.

I have actually look through the forum but I am overwhelm by all the info.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

1. Just returned from the Evasin Hotel (about half an hour from Hua Hin) We used Mr Roong to get return trip from Bangkok to the resort (through Hua Hin) and back to the airport. This cost us about 6000 Baht and was most professional, but was just for the transfer. I am sure you can email mr roong and negociate a deal with him for a driver for the day! But personally I am sure you can head into Hua Hin (Say the ';new'; market village shopping centre) and negociate a deal with one of the many drivers that hang around there.

2. Not really all that good for beaches in Hua Hin, and not much for kids to see or do that I saw, we did not have any kids with us, so probably not all that equiped to help there (there was Go Karts that looked fun)

3. We were all resort all the way, so cant help with the budget accom. There are many hotels and B%26amp;B s there in Hua Hin, I am sure you will find something!

4. Pretty much everything we did, Cave exploration, temple walks (on top of a massive hill) and snorkelling were all pretty strenuous, even the fittest amongst us were getting tired in the heat, so cant help there. Not sure if there are nice beaches within the ';city'; of Hua Hin, we went down the beach and it was all piers and resturants, but im sure a little away from the city area and it would be nicer (just watch the jellyfish)

Night market is a must see (probably only once) has plenty to look at and many great resturants, its open every night. There are nice national parks and beaches to check out within an hours drive away as well, just hire a driver and ask him to take you to beaches, you can get one pretty cheap, maybe 1000 baht for a whole day.

Cheers, I hope you have fun!

Daniel

What sort of accommodation and did you want to be in the town center of prefer a little way along the beach ?

You can take the mini van service from Bangkok, costs about B 180 each.

There is also the train but takes 3.5-4 hrs ++

You can get 3 star hotels in town center short wealk to the beach, eg City Beach Hotel for about B 1,700, there are lots of smaller hotels in the area and cheaper.

Though with 3 young children you need to think about the room set up

Your itinery need not be too detailed seeing as you are only staying one night.

I would suggest a day at the beach !!

For kids there are horses to ride on the sand plus elephant rides in the hills just outside the business area. The monkey temple would be good at dusk for the kids, but it is on a hill.

At night I would suggest the night market and a nice feed at a waterfront seaside restaurant. A seafood meal is a must-do in Hua Hin.

A nice walk around town, visit the day market for wifey to do some shopping, and a visit to the picturesque railway station and it will be time to head back to Bangkok !

Hi, We are in Hua Hin at the moment. We are staying at The Wannara Hotel and very happy. Lovely newish hotel.Rooms are large. We have got a room right by the pool. It worked out 71 dollars australian a night with buffet breakfast which changes everyday. Clost to shops and short stoll to beach. Opposite Sofitel which is on the beach. I booked through Hotels2Thailand and had no probelm. Cheapest! Not a budget hotel and around a 3 1/2 to 4 star. Beatuful pool with spa. Great for the kids especiall if you get room by pool which are the deluxe rooms. Have a great time.
