Hi all
I will be spending New Year%26#39;s eve in Bangkok this year and will be staying at Centara Grand at Central world. since it is the last night before going home, would like to have a memorable dinner. would appreciate suggestions on where we can go for a nice, reasonably priced dinner at Siam Square.
tks and regards
New Year's eve - where to eat?
Any particular reason to pick Siam Square? Where ever you decide to eat, you%26#39;ll need to make reservations well ahead.
New Year's eve - where to eat?
HI Dragonc
a few reasons:
- will be going home the next day so after sightseeing in the morning and afternoon, thinking of going back to Centara Grand to rest and also pack the luggage, then go for dinner
- planning to go to the countdown party at Central world so safer to hang around at siam square in case we r stuck in the traffic
- don%26#39;t know where else to go for dinner , in fact, for most of the nights, we%26#39;ll end up eating in siam square area cause that place has most malls and restaurants, i think....
any recommendations?
thks
Have you made your hotel reservation yet? Many hotels require booking their NYE ';Gala'; Dinner.
OK. Siam Square is an area behind the Siam train station on the other side of road from the Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery Centers, and is aimed more or less directly at teenagers. This is why I asked. There are some restaurants there but nothing outstanding. Siam Paragon has quite a lot of nice restaurants, but you would need to book in advance.
HI Dragonc
thks for telling me where is siam square. i kept hearing that but don%26#39;t know where it was exactly...but have the impression that there r eating places there... i am okay with eating at siam paragon, mbk, central world plaza etc as long as they r near to centara grand/central world...
btw, just came across this place called Seefah restaurant, read good reviews about the place. do u know if they have a branch at central world plaza? their website is in thai...
HI Curt1591
yes, i have booked a room at Centara Grand but rate did not include gala dinner. we booked via phone directly with the hotel, and they did not say we had to pay for compulsory gala dinner. i was a little worried and decided to check their website but again, nothing was mentioned about the dinner. so i guess i don%26#39;t have to pay for this gala dinner if they do have it?
Yes there is a branch of See Fah in Central World. Its on the 6th floor (i think), i close to Sizzler. See Fah is not special but has decent Thai food. Nearby is Banana Leaf (or very similar name) where the food is pretty good.
BTW places like See Fah are unlikely to take advance reservations (although you can try). What usually happens is first come, first served, with a waiting list system - when a table is free they call the next name on the list.
I would guess that Centralworld has at least 50 restaurants, ranging from food courts to fine dining. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll find something right there.
HI Dragonc
thks for the recommendation. is banana leaf serving thai cuisine? is their menu in english as well? i understand see fah%26#39;s menu is in thai and the waiteresses do not speak english so am wondering how to place order..what about this place called MC steamboat? any comments on that?
thks
regards
MK Suki might be what you are thinking. Although I really like it, it is best experienced with someone knowledgeable your first visit.
Banana Leaf is a chain (but pretty good). Their menus feature pictures and English.
