We are leaving on the Diamond Princess in November and have to find our way to that particular Port in Bangkok, Laem Chabang. Does anyone know the best way to get there and can we book a hotel near by or just get a taxi from the city of Bangkok to Laem Chabang port.
Travel from Bangkok to Laem Chabang Port
Hi,
Yes, it is possible to get a pre-arranged car to take you to Laem Chabang.. Prices vary widely so negotiate before hand.. This tends to be the most expensive option-- but it is easy.
As you mentioned, another way is to simply take a meter taxi from anywhere in the city.. if you pursue this option, you should be able to negotiate a fixed rate of about THB1500 to THB2000.. You may have to try several taxis as not all taxis will want to go that far out of the city depending on the time of day and their shift schedule..
Travel from Bangkok to Laem Chabang Port
Hi Liz, You beat me to it. We are travelling on the same ship %26amp; thought we might find a driver who would take us to Laem Chabang. We have done this before but we got transfers which cost an arm %26amp; a leg. We are going to stay at one of the Hotels near the airport which is actually on the way to the port from the city. If anyone out there can help, or knows of a driver who would do this, we would greatly appreciate an e mail address. Liz, maybe we can share a cab or mini van - there are 2 of us.
That would be great except we plan to have two or three days in Bangkok and would need to stay at a hotel near the city for easy access to everything. I agree it is going to cost an arm and a leg to pay the transfer. Can we just wait and see if any other suggestions come in.
No worries Liz. I have found a couple of limo companies on the net just by googling limos bangkok.
They range from 1800 baht for a sedan to 2400 baht(for the same sedan)
They look like they will do the job. Have a look.
Most of these give prices depending on what type of car you want. Hope this helps - Dioz
We are going on same cruise. Have booked limo service with Image Limo service. Pick up at Bangkok airport, drop at hotel in city, a couple of nights at hotel then pick up at hotel to Laem Chabang - a total of 3900 baht. We are very happy with this price for what we are getting. You may want to look up their website.
We are also leaving on the Diamond Princess in November but will be arriving on Nov 21 almost midnight, and are wondering any party is also arriving on the same night, and may be share a cab to a hotel in the city, and then from the hotel to Laem Chabang around noon on the following day?
I wouldn%26#39;t bother going into the City at Midnight. There are many hotels in the Suvarnabhumi area (near the Airport)to stay (%26amp; very cheap) %26amp; then get a limo or cab to pick you up next morning to go to the Port as the Airport is 40 Minutes from the City %26amp; the Port is closer to the Airport than the City so you would be doubling your trip the next morning. If you Google Hotels is the Suvarnabhumi area, you will find about 10. We have then booked a Limo with Bangkok Limos for the trip from the Hotel to the Port for 1800 Baht. Hope this helps....
If you are looking for a night out while in port, I would suggest going to Pattaya instead of Bangkok. You should have no problem finding accommodations there and you will have something to do rather than staying near the airport. Pattaya is actually closer than the airport and a whole lot more fun.
Taxis go to Pattaya all the time, you pass Laem Chabang on the way to Pattaya. Price for a taxi ride to Pattaya runs around 1200 baht. (Taxi cabs have a greater chance of getting a return customer from Pattaya than Laem Chabang.)
How many days between your arrival at Suvarnabhumi and you boarding your ship? The suggestion to go all the way to Pattaya is a valid suggestion, hotels are cheaper in Pattaya and the price quoted for taxi rides to Bangkok from Pattaya is 800 baht. Laem Chabang is only a short distance from Pattaya. (Bus from Bangkok, at 113 baht, that goes to Pattaya passes Laem Chabang main gate area too.)
If you are staying in Bangkok for a few days you can also check out a couple travel agencies, besides cheap tours they also often book rides to Pattaya and other places. You could get a van to Pattaya with a stop at Laem Chabang. Price for these shared van rides is usually 300 or 400 baht.
Bell Travel has a hotel to hotel passenger service. They routinely pick passengers up at Bangkok hotels and drop them off at Pattaya Hotels. The price is 400 baht per passenger. They may do a pick up in Bangkok and a drop off at Laem Chabang, but you must ask them.

Good luck.
We will only be in Bangkok for half a day, and would like to see some of the temples in the morning before we board the ship. that%26#39;s why we would like to go to a downtown hotel after arrival, and join a half day tour in the morning before on board our cruise.
Is it safe to take a booked car/limo that late at night to a downtown hotel?
