Has anyone flown China Airlines recently?

I am traveling on China Airlines for the first time %26amp; am wondering what to expect. I am not asking about flight record but want to know about the flight in general, seating, food, etc.

Has anyone flown China Airlines recently?

Make sure the plane has personal tv%26#39;s, our flight didnt when it should have, what a long boring flight. Never again.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. Was the plane dirty? How was the food? I am traveling economy. Were you comfortable? If you could give me any further help, I would appreciate it. I know that my ticket is already purchased but I would just like to know what I%26#39;m in for.

Not sure why you%26#39;d wonder if the plane was ';dirty';? They%26#39;re a very professional airline, the F/A%26#39;s are friendly, although I didn%26#39;t fly in economy.

There%26#39;s a long string of reviews here;

I have flown them between the States and Taiwan, as well as inter-Asia. They are a good carrier. We had AVODs on the transpacific flights. And the food was ... well airline food ;-)

Don%26#39;t confuse reviews of Air China with China Airlines. Air China from mainland China is much more lack luster and could use a bit a sprucing up in the customer service department.

Hi,

I%26#39;ve flown China Air (CI) many times, both intra-Asia regional flights as well as long haul USA-Asia flights..

I%26#39;ve always found them to be a overall very good carrier.. Food is fine-- to a point in economy food is food, gourmet it%26#39;s not, but you won%26#39;t go hungry either.. Drinks are free and free flowing..

I personally prefer their newer A340%26#39;s and A330 which have seat-back AVOD with the retractable controller built into the armrest. I like this system over the touch screen system as I always seem to get seated in front of someone who believes that the screen somehow operates better/fast by pressing harder and more frequently. As I recall only their B744%26#39;s that are scheduled on TPE-LAX services are retro-fitted with AVOD, the others do not have it yet.

The A340%26#39;s have a slide-forward type seat-- that is that the seat bottom slides forward just bit when you recline.. the seat back still reclines, but the combination of the slide-forward with recline makes it feel like I%26#39;m being ';bucketed'; and I sleep better like this.. The seats also have a manual foot rest that%26#39;s attached to the seat bottom in front of you.. You can lower it and rest your feet on it if you like.

The only thing that I dislike about CI is that TPE isn%26#39;t the best airport for connections when compared to ICN, SIN and others in the region, but this isn%26#39;t something that is within CI%26#39;s control per se.. The other thing that *may* be an issue for those whom mileage accrual is important, is that CI is not yet a member of any of the 3 major alliances (OneW, StarA or SkyT).. Therefore miles earned on CI currently have limited use beyond CI itself.

Travel Safe,

China Airlines flights can be credited to the Delta Skymiles program. They don%26#39;t count towards elite status, but do count for all other aspects. Not sure if they are tied in with any other FF programs.
