How often train/bus is running late?

Hi All,

We%26#39;ll be travelling by train a bit in Thailand and since we have a lot planned out, my question is whether it%26#39;s normal for trains to run late?

ANd if they do, how late aprx. can we expect it to run?

Half an hour or more like 3-4 hours?

We may be taking a bus from Sukhothai to Bangkok, and wonder if buses tend to arrive late too?:)

We have a flight from Bangkok to Phuket in the morning(9-10 am), so I wonder if we can risk arriving to Bangkok at 4 am, or should we rather not risk?

Also, how long in advance should we arrive to the airport for local fligth Bangkok-Phuket? It%26#39;s 3 hours for internation flights, but what about local flights?

How often train/bus is running late?

Trains leave bang on time, but typically arrive 1-2 hours late on long runs. Buses meeting trains (for instance to connect with ferries) wait for the train.

Long distance buses usually run pretty much on time.

Domestic flights usually ask you to check in one hour ahead. Different airlines close their check-in at different times. Air Asia closes 45 minutes before flight time - even if there%26#39;s a delay. Other airlines close 30 minutes ahead.

Arriving in Bangkok 4 hours ahead of a flight should be OK. Allow one hour to get to the airport, although it usually takes 30-40 minutes.
