Am heading to Thailand at the start of February and am worried I may be trying to cram too much into my 10 nights there.
Here is the rough guide:
2 days in Bangkok then overnight train to Chiang Mai
2 days in Chiang Mai then fly to Krabi (via Bangkok)
3 days in Krabi then onto Koh Samui
2 days in Koh Samui then back to Bangkok.
Another day in Bangkok before flying out in the evening.
We both like shopping and eating so plan on doing that in Bangkok, plus seeing a few temples etc. Not sure if we need 3 days though.
Lots of lying on the beach, visiting islands etc down south. I really wanted to get up to Chiang Mai but I think it just may be too rushed and we end up spending too much time in airports.
Should I ditch Chiang Mai?
Am I trying to cram too much in?
IHO no don%26#39;t ditch Chiangmai, you will regret ir. Rather ditch Samui - do you need two beach destinations? In a country as diverse as Thailand, take the chance to see different aspects rather than concentrating on sand LOL. And plenty to do in Bangkok, three days may not be enough.
Am I trying to cram too much in?
agree ,ditch samui..
Pick one out of Krabi or Samui, there%26#39;s no point cramming in both with such limited time.
A beautiful sunny tropical beach is still just a beach, - Chiang Mai is much more.
Are you trying to cram too much in - yes.
Have to agree with everyone here. Ditch Samui and add an extra day onto Chiang Mai and one onto Krabi.
Another vote for spending a little more time for Chiang Mai and Krabi and skipping Samui for this trip. This way too, you%26#39;ll have more beach time and will not be spending it (less time and money to/from and for airports).
Thanks everyone, I thought that was the case. Will ditch Koh Samui.
If possible, don`t stay overnight in BKK when you arrive. Rail or fly directly up to Chiang Mai for about 3 nights and do BKK at the end of your holiday. Fly directly from Chiang Mai to Samui for 4 nights, and then back to Bangkok for 3 nights to fill up your luggage and see temples etc on your way home.
Samui is not big, so 4 nights should be enough time to see the island and also relax on the beach.
If you really want Krabi instead of Samui, I think you need more time and perhaps should save Chiang Mai for your next trip to Thailand. Krabi is a big province with so many great places to visit. Only 3-4 nights there will just tease you. IMO.
