could anyone please advise as to the following

1. costs of daily lounger/umbrella hire on Karon beach

2. is it worth getting your own transport and driver for daily personal tours,some idea of costs/recommendations

3. costs of tuks to kata beach

2. Drivers are about 200 Bt per hour. Many tours offer free transfer, and if you are doing a boat tour (eg Phanga Nga, Phi Phi) you wont need transport.

I found the tuk tuk drivers hard to bargain with in Karon (compared to Patong). It%26#39;s like they got together and decided on a minimum price for trips and wouldn%26#39;t budge. The best I could get to Kata was 200 baht each way, and that was with the driver we booked to take us from the airport, the Karon drivers wanted more. For a four hour shopping trip, 800 baht, and that was stopping at all the voucher/kick back places, so I guess 200 baht per hour is about right. All day tours (as I%26#39;ve seen quoted on this forum) range from as little as 500 baht to as much as 1500 baht.

I have just spoken to our local beach vendor on Karon Beach and they charge 200 baht per day for 2 sun loungers under 1 umbrella.

Otherwise a tuk tuk from mid to the southern end of Karon to the southern end of Kata Beach costs between 200 to 250 baht. If you bargain nicely you will get one for 200 baht.
