Luxury Honeymoon recommendation please on a good beach!

Please help. I am planning my long awaited trip to Thailand and SE Asia and am going mad looking at accommodation everywhere. I usualy use Tripadvisor as my bible. But I%26#39;m not often wanting 5 star luxury hotels. I%26#39;m totally confused as even the expensive 5 star hotels dont get great reviews really, Can anyone give me any tips please for Ko Samui or nearby? We will only be there for 5 nights maybe 6, we will be travelling all around Thailand so I wasnt planning on going somewhere arkward to get to or with another long journey after we arrive by plane. Looking for luxury, maybe bit secluded, rooms or villa with own jacuzzi or outside bath, dont know if budget would swing to a pool suite, views of sea or mountains would be a bonus. All this plus a nice beach. We wont always be on the coast so I%26#39;m really looking for a nice beach. Any recommendations for a romantic place thats fits this bill? I was looking at Hideaway Villas but dont think they are on a good beach but they suposed to have the fantastic views. Also Tongsai Bay hotel up the north also as this seems to have a better beach. Please help with advice on 2 above and any others you think may fit the bill. For once I dont mind not being centre of all the action. I know Chaewg beach is nice but think it might be too noisy/touristy/commercial for staying in on this occasion.

I will probably get shot down but I don%26#39;t think any of the beaches on Samui are lovely. That is if you want to swim. If you just want to look they are lovely. The best perhaps are South Chewang

Try villa m on boput beach. It%26#39;s beach front, has an infinity pool plus has a jacquzzi on the 3rd floor with million dollar views.

Sala Samui. Great for honemoon, nice villas, have pools, on one of the best beaches - Choengmon.

No competition - Tongsai Bay every time. All of the cottages and grand villas have very large baths on the balconies and are very private (no one can see in). Some of the villas have plunge pools. The beach is made of slightly finer sand at Chaweng but you%26#39;ll have to share it with tens of thousands of people (and hawkers). The beach at Tongsai is slightly coarser sand but its private (no hawkers). We have been to Tongsai 3 times and are returning in April. What makes it special is its staff, who will spoil you rotten, particularly if you are on honeymoon. You%26#39;ll probably get an upgraded room too and they%26#39;ll decorate it with flowers and fruits for you.

I also like its eco friendly policies and its stunning grounds and gardens (70 cottages and villas in 25 acres of grounds). I can%26#39;t think of anywhere better for a honeymon (we had ours there 10 years ago). Its15 minutes by car from Chaweng, so close enough for the bars and clubs and restaurants if you fancy a night out but far enough away from the tacky gawdiness of Chaweng that you really appreciate the peace, quite and pamepering that I think is essential on a honeymoon.

I found a good place for five-star hotel reviews at http://www.bombasticlife.com - they do have some reviews for Thailand, Koh Samui, Phuket and Chaing Mai and Golden Traingle plus Bangkok of course.

Hope it helps!

Better yet, spend your honeymoon in Krabi instead. It remains relatively unspoilt in comparison to Koh Samui and Phuket, has amazing beaches and gives you direct access to the Islands.

We toured throughout Thailand in June/july this year and found Krabi far nicer and more beautiful than Samui. Check out the Amari Vogue Resort where we spent our 2nd honeymoon this year. We highly recommend it.

Have a look at the Honeymoon Suite with it%26#39;s own pool practically on the beach at Samui Paradise Chaweng - the southern part of Chaweng beach- and the best beach by far.

Good luck,

Sandy

PS. It is gorgeous, expensive - wish I could afford it.

Thanks a million for all your recommendations so far. I will definately check out the ones mentioned so far and especially those I hadnt heard of yet. I will also check out Krabi as we were planning Phuket or Krabi also but hadnt decided on which was better place yet.

If you are also considering Krabi and want a luxury pavillion with pool/ outside bath in a stunning location with beautiful beaches and vews then you should look at the rayavadee. Its stunning. The only downside is that the beach is not private and it does attract lots of day trippers arriving by longtail boat. The resort however is private and no one gets in apart from guests. They usually upgrade honeymooners and they%26#39;ve got some good deals on at the moment such as free nights and pay for BB and get BB + dinner.
