Phuket to Chiang Mai

My husband and I along with our 2 year old son are going to spend a week in Phuket and would then like to go spend a few days in Chiang Mai. Could someone please guide us on what are the available means of transportation and which is the shortest and easiest way of getting to CM with a little one with us. Thanks!

Phuket to Chiang Mai

Hi, just did the same thing. We were in Phuket for 5 days and are in Chiang mai now for 4 days. We checked every option before we booked and could not find any direct flight. So we ended up booking on expedia with Thai airways and it was just a little over an hour to Bangkok where we had about an hour layover there, then to Chiang Mai took just a little over an hour. I t went by very fast. Hope this helps

Phuket to Chiang Mai

Summer3331- It is re-assuring to hear it from someone who has just done this!! My son is a very active toddler and hates being contained in airplanes hence I%26#39;m just worried if it%26#39;ll be too much of a hassle. On the other hand we really enjoy going to Phuket but have never been to Chiang Mai and would really like to include that in our trip this time. If I may ask, are you travelling with kids and could you tell me what all you%26#39;re doing in Chiang Mai and what is it like. Thanks for your help!

See my other post re travel to Chiang Mai.

AirAsia plan to open a new hub next month operating from Phuket. Then plan to start operating direct flights from Phuket to Chiang Mai in december.

Hi!

I want to do the same thing Phuket and Chiang Mai,if not to indiscrete I%26#39;d like to know how much you payed the flying ticket ? I%26#39;ve checked it out on thaiairways they charge 7,840.00Bahts which is about 248.00canadian dollars round trip,I wounder if it%26#39;s a fair price,I have to tell you it%26#39;s for February.

Thank you

Sandra from Quebec

there is a direct flight from chiang mai to phuket, but not the other way around, so if you can arrange to go to chiang mai first, you can then fly non-stop to phuket. The flight is with thai airways and leaves midday, I think about 12.30. So it is quick and easy.

Otherwise, if you have a choice, take bangkok airways and change in bangkok- to travel in either direction! Bangkok Air has their own departure lounges with free refreshments and free internet, newspapers etc. it is a joy to travel with them.

Ok so here%26#39;s the plan:

From Bangkok, we%26#39;ll go to Chiang Mai first (instead of Phuket), spend 4 nights there, then fly direct to Phuket and spend 6 nights there and then fly to Bangkok and spend 2 nights before heading back to the middle east.

All these flights are on Thai Air and its costing us roughly THB35,000 for info sake (2 adults, 1 child).

Thanks everyone for your guidance.

Hi,

No I%26#39;m not travelling with children, but you wont be dissapointed in Chiang Mai, I really like it here, we are beach people, but this is so different, also prices for everything is cheaper than Phuket. We are staying at the u Chiang Mai hotel and met a tuk tuk driver named tony. He has us busy every day of our short stay. Yesterday he took us our for about 3 hours to the umbrella factory, and the silk factory (a must see) you actually see the whole procees starting from the silk worms, several tempals. Today he took us to the elephant camp, then the orchid farm, the tiger kingdom, then the wat doi suthep phuping palace on the top of the mountain then for my husband suit fitting (10 hours in total in his van) and charged us 440 batt. A very reliable guy on time. As far as air fare, It was cheaper for us to book on expedia, as we were departing from Vancouver to Seoul then Phuket, Bangkok,Chiang Mai, Seoul, Vancouver. So dont know for sure what we paid for Phuket to Chiang Mai. Don%26#39;t worry about your children, you will do fine!
