Thantakit Dental Bangkok Thailand

I%26#39;d really appreciate any feedback from anyone who has experience with the above dental clinic in Bangkok. They have 3 locations in Bangkok. The good - the bad - the ugly even!!

Alternatively if anyone would be good enough to pass on ANY recommendations, tips or anything else relevant to having dental work done in Thailand, I%26#39;d be really grateful.

Thanks %26amp; cheers :)

Hospital Dental clinics are often a good bet.

BNH (Convent Road/Sathorn Road) is excellent but high prices by Thai standards. Bumrungrad, Vichayut, and Vibhavadi are all very good with western trained dentists.

You can also consider the Bangkok Dental Hospital, Silom Smile clinics.

I have gone to their Clinic at Petchaburi/Phrom Pong. Very very good

Also been to their clinic opposite Panthip in Pratunam. ok.

Of the 2 I recommend Their building on Petchaburi. basically the entire building is their clinic. Big and spacious.

I%26#39;m just having work done at Asavanant Dental Clinic, which is on the corner of Sukhumvit and Thonglor. It%26#39;s quite an impressive place, extremely well-equipped with personable youngish staff.

It came personally recommended by a friend in Berlin who had a lot of work done there a couple years ago. He in turn had it recommended by a Thai friend.

Today, I had a long session with a young highly-skilled endodontist (root canal specialist), a stunning young woman who speaks perfect US English and was educated at Harvard. She%26#39;s attempting to repair the mess my Berlin dentist made of several root canals and a crown that kept falling out. Time will tell if the treatment is successful. All I can say is, it was totally pain-free and both dentists who worked on me exuded the air of quiet competence that made me confident it%26#39;s going to be good.

All in all I%26#39;m going to have the root canals, two crowns and four veneers, and it%26#39;s going to cost around 100,000 baht. Not cheap, but my insurance will pay for the root canal treatments and 60% of the cost of the crowns. The veneers will be out of my pocket. I understand they use CAD/CAM technology to make the crowns right there on the premises while-u-wait. All X-ray work was done right there, and the endodontist took several x-rays to check her work without me having to leave the chair.

Thanks so much for the advice! It%26#39;s difficult making the choice of dentist just from a website and the feedback I%26#39;ve received from other TA users is invaluable.

A very big thank you!

Cheers :)

I can recommend Bangkok Smile on Asoke Road. Had major work done over 2 three week periods in 2007 - basically total reconstruction of my mouth - 10 implants and 2 porcelain bridges of 10 teeth each.

They really looked after me and there were no nasty billing surprises at the end (as a fellow Aussie you will know what I mean there!!!!).

I am looking for a great cosmetic dental clinic in BKK for new porcelain veneers and tooth whitening. I am looking at Asanavant, Bangkok Smile dental clinic, Bumrungrad and Dental Spa with Dr. Lily. How did your experience at Asanavant work out? They all seem pretty reliable but I am looking for the best so any additional information you can give will be helpful.

Thanks:)

Well, so far so good with Asavanant. Everything very painstaking and pain free. Unfortunately they decided I needed a small gum operation to expose enough tooth to properly anchor the problem crown (that kept falling out) in front. They refused to go any further until the gum heals and resets, so I have to go back (flight already booked for November). But they did leave me with a temporary crown that%26#39;s far more solid than the ';permanent'; crown my previous dentist had done. The gold crown they did finish is totally solid and felt 100 percent natural from the outset.

All in all, they re-did 2 root canals (extracting an old broken pin from one of them, to the endodontist%26#39;s horror), placed a crown, prepared another tooth with a solid post for crowning, and did the gum operation at a total cost of about 1300 euros, of which my insurance paid for all but 80 euros.

Still to come: permanent crown in front and 3 or 4 veneers.

They%26#39;re very well organized and send you an SMS on your cell phone the day before an appointment. Never did I have to wait more than 10 minutes. Premises: very clean, roomy and stylish. Equipment: first rate. Personnel: young, competent and confident.

Thanks for the info. Asanavant seems to be first rate, although I emailed them 4 days ago and have not yet got a response. Did you have problems contacting them and setting an appointment?

Thanks:)

Initially, I didn%26#39;t make an appointment, just walked in. They took me right away, and then made further appointments.

Now I%26#39;ll email them for some dates in November, and call if they don%26#39;t respond within a week.

Thais often have difficulty with responding to email. Like, if the only secretary competent to do English emailing is on vacation or something, for example. So, I just pick up the phone quite often.
